« Hallowed be thy name! » with Saint Teresa of Avila, Our Mother (2)
« Hallowed be thy name! ». In this chapter 30 of The Way of Perfection, Saint Teresa meditates at length on this fervent request in the Lord's Prayer: “Hallowed be thy name.” For Saint Teresa, the soul that utters these words desires above all that God be recognized, loved, and honored. She writes: “We cannot add anything to God's holiness, but we can make it known.” Sanctifying the Name of the Father then becomes a call to let God shine in us, th

Meeting of Prioresses of contemplative life in the Holy Land
Carmel of the Pater Noster – November 3, 2025 On November 3, 2025, our community at Carmel of the Pater Noster had the great joy of welcoming the Prioresses of the Contemplative Sisters of the Holy Land to our monastery for their biannual meeting. This moment of fraternal and spiritual communion brought together, in an atmosphere of prayer and sharing, several contemplative communities present in the Holy Land. Representing Carmel were the Prioresses o

Feast of Our Mother Saint Teresa of Jesus
On the 15 th of October, our community joyfully celebrated the feast of Our Mother Saint Teresa of Jesus, in the presence of the Consul General in Jerusalem, Mr. Nicolas Kassianides, and in the midst of a moment filled with hope. A few days earlier, the ceasefire of October 10 had rekindled in the hearts of all, near and far, the fragile but real breath of peace. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, Carmel, which devotes its life to prayer for the Church and for the world, celebrat

The “Our Father” with Saint Teresa of Avila (1)
Beginning of the “Our Father” with Saint Teresa of Avila, Our Mother (1) (Way of Perfection, chapter 26) Sainte Thérèse d’Avila, Notre Mère, introduit ici sa méditation mot par mot du Notre Père , qu’elle appelle la prière parfaite , enseignée par Jésus lui-même. Elle commence par ces deux mots si simples, mais infiniment profonds : “Notre Père” . Un mot qui dit tout : "Père" Sainte Thérèse s’émerveille de la tendresse divine contenue dans ce mot : Père .C’est u

A moment of grace and hope
Dear friends, From our Carmelite monastery of the Pater Noster, on the Mount of Olives, the moment has come to break a rather long silence of a few months. For us, as for many, this time has been marked by uncertainty, pain and prayerful waiting. The night seemed long! But at the very heart of this darkness, hope appeared! Fragile, certainly, but in reality the Lord invites us to believe in what Saint Paul tells us: ‘hope does not disappoint’, because it is rooted in the One

Our Lady of Mount of Carmel
The Solemnity of Our Lady of Mount Carmel went well! Blessed be the Lord! We give thanks to God for this time spent in community and with our neighbors, on this mountain of the Mount of Olives: Monsignor Nicolas, Father Luciano of the “Silent Workers of the Cross”, the Benedictine Sisters and the other religious communities around us. Many thanks to all those who thought of us from near and far, to all those who prayed for us! Spec

Our Father who art in heaven (3)
"Our Father!", You are the Father of children who are kings, admired from the start, acclaimed as prodigies, and yet sometimes crushed by what is expected of them. You love them beyond success or image. You want them to be simple and free, children of silence, children of truth. You are also the Father of spoiled children, fulfilled but empty, surrounded but alone,

Our Father who art in heaven (2)
Prayer for forgotten children “Our Father...” You are “ours”. And this "ours" goes so far, so deeply, that even those whom the world ignores are called by You "my child". You are the Father of unwanted children, who come in silence, and leave without a name. Little lives barely begun, fragile seeds promised to heaven. They were not wanted here, but You wanted them. You are still waiting for them, in your arms that are wider than refusal. You are the Father of the children who

Our Father who art in heaven!" (1)
In this section, we share with you a series of meditations and reflections from the Prayer of ‘Our Father' at this difficult time for the Holy Land and our Region. Made by one of our Sisters, (but not always the same one). This is also an opportunity to show you the versions of the “Our Father”, which can be found on our site of Eleona "Our Father..." Already, these words sound like an ancient and new breath, like a spring that whispers in my soul or rather in our soul: Sinc

Watchmen, where is the night ?
Rejoice, Jerusalem, and all who love her. Be joyful, all who were in mourning; exult and be satisfied at her consoling breast. (cf. Is 66:10-11) Opening Antiphon On this 4th Sunday of Lent the Church invites us to rejoice! We are now at the midway point in our journey towards Easter. On this 4th Sunday the colour of the priest's vestment changes from its penitential purple to a lighter, rose-coloured one. This underlines both the road we have already travelled thi

Let us move forward together in the joy of hope and patience!
There are several communities of consecrated Religious living on the Mount of Olives, and we have had the joy of meeting together during this current Jubilee Year. The first time we met together was on the 1st of January, in order to pray for peace; especially peace in this country where we all live, and which has thus become our home. A country which has been so horribly torn by war for more than a year, but which is now on the threshold of a hope for a 'cease

olive harvest
“The earth has yielded its fruit; God, our God, blesses us” (Ps 66:7) While the Jewish calendar marks the succession of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah, and while the Holy Land is painfully torn apart by a war that has now lasted more than a year, the Lord's faithfulness remains and time continues to pass: summer gives way to autumn, and the olive harvest season has arrived. “The earth has yielded its fruit; God, our God, blesses us!” (Ps 66:7)

“Do not sleep anymore, ... no peace on earth.”

Blessing of the renovated rooms in the hosting zone of our Carmel monastery
On May 8th, we had the joy of the blessing of the renovated rooms in the hosting zone of our Carmel monastery. These rooms are intended for guests and retreatants, our volunteer friends and our families too. The renovation work was completed some time ago, but we had to wait for the favourable time. And the favourable time came on May 8th! It was the time of salvation, since all of us - Christians in the Holy Land – were in Easter season since the previous Sunday.
