On June 7, 1923, Marguerite Marie Guiomar was born in Landernau (Finistère) into a close-knit and happy family.

On June 7, 2023, at the Carmelite convent in Jerusalem, Sr. Marguerite Marie de Jésus celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by her sisters in the community and her sister Sr. Marie Guénola, a Benedictine nun from Calvary and neighbor on the Mount of Olives, as well as many friends, priests, nuns, and lay people who came to join in our thanksgiving.

During Mass, Fr. Paco, who has known Sr. Marguerite for 50 years, highlighted her welcoming qualities, noting how she knew how to take her place while leaving plenty of room for others.

Christians, Jews, and Muslims were gathered together in friendship, and it was a very simple and joyful moment.

Sr. Marguerite, always grateful, was touched by so many expressions of friendship, and her prayers will become even more fervent for everyone, but, she said, “I hope I'm not off for a second century...!”
